Avian Welfare Coalition
Dedicated to the welfare and protection of captive birds since 2000.
The Mission of the Avian Welfare Coalition (AWC) is to raise awareness about the plight of parrots and other captive birds and to serve as an educational resource for the humane community, law-makers, and the general public.
As a result of a lawsuit brought by the American Anti-Vivisection Society (AAVS) and the Avian Welfare Coalition (AWC), the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is now subject to a court order to complete rulemaking to protect birds nationwide, as required by the Animal Welfare Act (AWA).
Parrot abuse and/or neglect can occur anywhere these birds are kept or displayed – pet shops and other retail stores, breeding facilities, bird marts, private homes, hotels, rescue facilities, veterinary offices, schools, nursing homes, zoos, exhibits, and in laboratories.
Donations to the Avian Welfare Coalition are not tax-deductible.
